ECUADOR.

Deployment of MED-1 Mobile Hospital in Ecuador - South America, designed and built by MED-1 Partners and Golden Gait Trailers, located in Concord NC. Ecuador purchased and deployed 2 of the state-of-the-art mobile hospital systems. These units are capable of caring for over 200 patients each, including 2 operating rooms, 4 ICU beds, 7 step down beds and 1 ENT chair.

Within days of the commissioning of the two MED-1 mobile hospitals, more than 1,000 patients per day were routinely seen.

  • Open 12 hours a day

  • A maximum of 1,800 patients per day

  • An average of 15 to 25 surgeries per day per hospital

MED-1 was responsible for training medical and support staff, setting up the units, as well as training and support for maintenance and service.  The work was a resounding success; the local teams were able to run the hospital independently in less than a month.

HURRICANE KATRINA.

On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall on the Gulf Coast of the United States. In the wake of unprecedented devastation, Carolina's MED-1, the world's first complete and fully mobile medical care facility, was deployed to the front lines of the disaster: Waveland and Bay St. Louis - Mississippi,
where Katrina's eye passed directly through.

Ninety percent of the residential and commercial structures were leveled, including the 102-bed Hancock Medical Center, which had six inches of mud in the second floor operating room.

  • Duration: 7 weeks

  • Total patients: 7400

  • 50-350 per day

MED-1 took up residence in a Kmart parking lot in Waveland for a seven-week commitment as the central medical facility for three Mississippi counties.

After forty-nine days, MED-1 had cared for more than 7,500 patients and saved many lives in the epicenter of Katrina.

INDIANA FLOODS.

As a direct result of the flooding in Indiana due to heavy rains, the Carolina MED-1 was deployed to Columbus, Indiana, to replace the Emergency Department at Columbus Regional Hospital.

During the six-week period, more than 2500 patients were treated. The Carolina MED-1 was authorized in the State of Indiana as an Emergency Department, allowing Columbus to properly care for patients.
